Car Hire Milan Airport
Milan Malpensa is the largest of the Milan airports and the 2nd busiest in Italy. Opened for commercial flights in 1948, planes have been active on the site for over 100 years. Initially, as a test site, then being used for military purposes. At one time it was even acquired by the Luftwaffe.
For a period of time, Malpensa sat behind Linate in the standings of Milan airports but in 1985 this all changed. Linate could ship 7 million passengers per year but no more. A law was introduced to restructure the Milan airports and Malpensa received 200million Euros funding from the EU. This paved the way for it to become a central hub for the city and by 1998, Alitalia had moved most of its fleet from Rome to Milan.
Following a lull in passenger numbers during the mid 2000’s, a huge campaign was drawn up to reinvigorate footfall. It worked as several more routes were added and filled successfully. So much so that EasyJet made Milan Malpensa its second base after Gatwick.
Accommodating for both short and long-haul flights, you can connect to pretty much anywhere around the world whether it be America, Europe or Africa.
